Edmond flew out on Friday, back to Montana.  The trip to Labrador would not have been possible without him. Thank you VERY much!

I lazed about Baddeck through the weekend, and am off in an hour or two, towards St. Peters. I will gunkhole, a night or two, on the way.

Baddeck is where Alexander Graham Bell settled down, years after he invented the telephone and founded Bell Telephone.  Baddeck has a nice museum on Bell.  It was odd to see that the pay phone outside of the museum is owned by Bell (Alliant), as were the telecommunications all along the Labrador coast.  At Baddeck Alexander Bell focused on projects related to flight, hydrofoils, genetics and other interests.  There are many descendants with year round or summer houses at Red Point, where the Bell mansion, Beinn Bhreagh, is located. I met the grandson of his chief engineer and pilot, Casey Baldwin. Following are a few photos of photos at the museum:

Back in Baddeck, Nova Scotia

After an overnight sail across the Cabot Strait from Port aux Basque, Newfoundland, and a very nice sailing in 20 kt winds the last few hours in Lake Bras d'Or, we arrived in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, yesterday late afternoon. It is Regatta Week, and the town is busy.

Red Bay again

We are now in Bonne Bay, Newfoundland, after a nice overnight sail from Red Bay, Labrador (photos of which I posted before, on the way up the the coast).

Three men arrived in a speedboat (as outboard runabouts are called in Labrador). The limit is 5 cod per person, and so they cleaned 15 cod (they gave us several fillets, oh my gosh delicious):
