I lazed about Baddeck through the weekend, and am off in an hour or two, towards St. Peters. I will gunkhole, a night or two, on the way.
Baddeck is where Alexander Graham Bell settled down, years after he invented the telephone and founded Bell Telephone. Baddeck has a nice museum on Bell. It was odd to see that the pay phone outside of the museum is owned by Bell (Alliant), as were the telecommunications all along the Labrador coast. At Baddeck Alexander Bell focused on projects related to flight, hydrofoils, genetics and other interests. There are many descendants with year round or summer houses at Red Point, where the Bell mansion, Beinn Bhreagh, is located. I met the grandson of his chief engineer and pilot, Casey Baldwin.
